(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – A new report reveals that the number of Americans who have a second job has increased substantially on the watch of President Joe Biden compared with the administration of former President Donald Trump.
Almost half – or 44% – of employed Americans currently work a second job compared with 31% under Trump, an increase of 13 points, according to a LendingClub report released Tuesday.
The growth in the number of Americans resorting to extra employment under President Joe Biden is exposed by a survey from FlexJobs, a market for remote job opportunities.
The survey found that 69% of employed professionals in the United States either have a side job or would like to get one, Breitbart News reports.
The news outlet points out that “the desire to work longer hours at a second job” is observed after in 2022, Biden’s 40-year-high inflation – dubbed Bidenflation – cost US households an extra $433 per month, or $5,200 per year, as per Bloomberg data.
The report by LendingClub, a financial services company, showed that in February, 62% were living paycheck to paycheck, an increase of two percentage points compared with January.
It further revealed that those living paycheck to paycheck includes 48% of high-income consumers.
The report found that 39% of Americans who live paycheck to paycheck and have “issues paying their bills” said their reason for seeking a side job was “extraordinary expenses.”
About 55% of those polled said their supplemental income increased as a share of their total income during the last 90 days.
The LendingClub report surveyed 4,125 American consumers nationwide between February 7 and February 23 and also considered economic data from other sources.
“While many Americans are forced to expand their income by working more hours at a second job, Biden is expanding taxes on the so-called gig economy,” Breitbart News commented.
It noted that in November, the Internal Revenue Service warned workers they would have to report income exceeding $600 with a form called the 1099-K.
The warning resulted from President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
“The rule is intended to compel American workers to ‘pay your fair share,’” Breitbart said.
It stressed that before the IRS announcement, Biden had sought to push it only for the wealthy but later seemingly decided to target everyone.
