The Austin Police Department confirmed the discovery of multiple incendiary devices at a Tesla dealership in Texas.
As concerns grow over increasing attacks on the company, some see this as “nothing short of domestic terrorism.”
Officers arrived at the scene on U.S. Route 183 in Austin shortly after 8 a.m. on March 24, 2025, where they found the suspicious devices.
The Austin Police Department Bomb Squad was quickly summoned, safely confiscating the incendiary devices.
“When officers arrived on scene, they located suspicious devices and called the APD bomb squad to investigate,” the department stated, cited by The Guardian.
This event comes amid escalating protests and an apparent orchestrated series of attacks on Tesla properties nationwide.
Incidents include arson, vandalism, and the use of Molotov cocktails targeting Tesla vehicles and charging stations.
The Justice Department has charged individuals in Oregon, Colorado, and South Carolina for similar acts against Tesla.
The situation in Austin is far from isolated. In Las Vegas, protesters set five Tesla cars on fire, while spray-painting the disruptive word “resist” on a service center.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi labeled these attacks as “nothing short of domestic terrorism,” a sentiment echoing in other ongoing attacks across the nation.
“These criminal actions appear to have been conducted by lone offenders, and all known incidents occurred at night,” the FBI said, cited by ABC News.
While Tesla faces criticism over CEO Elon Musk’s involvement with President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), this does not justify the violent acts.
Police in Austin continue to investigate, with no parties yet taking responsibility.
Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has described these efforts against Tesla and DOGE as “organized” attacks aimed at undermining conservative progress.
Efforts to combat this wave of violence see officials such as Bondi taking decisive action.
“The days of committing crimes without consequence have ended,” she warned.
President Trump has also defended Musk, one of his major campaign contributors, and suggests harsh penalties for those involved in such vandalism.
For many, the attacks remind them of the ongoing struggle to maintain the values and innovations America should protect.
In response to these incidents, the FBI has initiated a task force dedicated to investigating attacks on Tesla properties.
With 48 reported cases nationwide, spanning at least nine states, the agency urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities nearby.
