Americans Want PBS Defunded Over Trump Warning

( – Calls for the defunding of PBS have gone viral on social media after the taxpayer-funded channel showed an “inflammatory speech” warning during former President Donald Trump’s latest speech.

You can see a screenshot of what PBS did further down this post.

The “warning” graphic was put up during PBS’s YouTube live stream of Trump’s address after he appeared in court on Tuesday to be arraigned for his indictment for allegedly mishandling classified government papers.

“Experts warn that inflammatory rhetoric from elected officials or people in power can prompt individual actors to commit acts of violence,” read the PBS warning in the lower third of the screen.

The graphic was used by PBS News Hour to provide “context” to the former president’s speech to supporters from one of his golf resorts, THE Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

PBS did not air the live stream of Trump’s address on its network, only on its YouTube channel.

The warning about his “inflammatory rhetoric” was one out of a total of 14 lowers thirds that PBS showed during the live stream under the label “Context.”

During his speech, Trump promised that when he regained the White House, he would appoint a “real special prosecutor” to investigate “the entire Biden crime family” as well as “all others involved with the destruction of our elections, our borders, and our country itself.”

Conservative pundits were furious over PBS’s “warning” aired while the former president spoke.

“Taxpayer-funded PBS goes full PRAVDA. Defund PBS,” tweeted Charlie Kirk, leader of the conservative nonprofit Turning Point USA.

Kirk, who has over 2.3 million followers, referred to “Pravda,” the official newspaper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

“Defund PBS NOW,” wrote Derrick Evans, a former West Virginia House of Delegates member convicted of his involvement in the US Capitol’s January 6, 2021 events.

“Here’s further proof public broadcasting is unnecessary and irrelevant,” tweeted Texas-based radio host Kenny Webster.

He said that PBS, NPR, and the Voice of America were “publicly funded broadcast scam” organizations.

Last month, Oklahoma’s GOP Governor Kevin Stitt vetoed a funding bill for the state PBS station, accusing it of seeking to “indoctrinate” kids as a reboot of “Clifford the Big Red Dog” showed a character raised by a lesbian couple.
