(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Joe Biden’s brief visit to the devastated Hawaiian island of Maui, where an estimated 1,000 people have perished in the recent wildfires, sparked public outrage as he quickly returned to vacationing in a billionaire’s mansion.
On Monday, Biden raised eyebrows with bizarre remarks and attempts to crack jokes during his several hours in the obliterated resort town of Lahaina, Hawaii, even before he swiftly returned to the luxury estate on Lake Tahoe in Nevada.
Earlier this month, wildfires caused billions of dollars worth of damages and killed 115 in the resort town of Lahaina, Hawaii, according to the official death toll. However, the grim figure is expected to climb tenfold as more than 800 people remain unaccounted for.
The Washington Free Beacon reports that Biden spent only about six hours on Maui, including his travel from and back to the airport. According to his schedule, he arrived in Lahaina at noon on Monday and departed for the airport at about 4 p.m.
The president’s visit to Maui interrupted his vacation at Lake Tahoe. Still, he resumed it right away as he flew back to Nevada, where he has been staying at the $18 million lakefront mansion of billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer.
The president is there with his family, including First Son Hunter Biden. However, the local authorities are probing the presidential vacation over complaints that Steyer’s decision to rent out his mansion broke local housing ordinances.
According to the White House, the Bidens have paid a “fair market price” for a week at the Lake Tahoe estate.
Besides the fast return to his luxury mansion vacation, the president has sparked public criticism several other times over his reaction to the tragedy on Maui.
After his initial remarks, he went four days without mentioning the calamity and then shrugged off questions about the staggering death toll and his leadership.
He also made gaffes during his visit to the Hawaiian island, including by attempting to crack jokes about a cadaver dog’s boots and his 1967 Corvette.
Biden also compared the apocalyptic disaster to the small 2004 kitchen fire in his home in Wilmington, Delaware. He first said he was in Washington, DC, at the time and then alleged he witnessed how the firefighters rescued his wife, Jill.
You can’t make this stuff up. Biden came to Maui for a few hours and now he’s on his way back to Lake Tahoe to vacation again. These people are despicable. pic.twitter.com/jzPqcu4X6w
