BOMBSHELL: Look Who’s Defending Trump

Former Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA)

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – The indictment of former President Donald Trump on dozens of charges related to his alleged mishandling of classified documents was a “mistake” and “politically unwise,” a former Democrat politician has declared.

At the end of last week, Trump was indicted by the US Justice Department on 37 different charges over the classified papers found at his Mar-a-Lago estate during the FBI raid on August 8, 2022.

According to former US Rep. Barney Frank, an infamous Massachusetts Democrat, the documents ended up at Trump’s properties due to a “self-indulgent and sloppy” move, not because of criminal intent.

“I think people said, ‘Oh, this is a political indictment,’” Frank told Newsmax’s “Saturday Report.”

“I think it’s the absence of politics. First of all, let’s be clear — and others have said this: There’s no sign that what Trump did endangered national security,” he added.

“I would like him to explain why he did it. My own guess is that there were embarrassing things in there, for example, about his love affair with the dictator of North Korea, which [he] recently reaffirmed. But there’s no allegation that American national security was harmed by this,” the Democrat elaborated.

Barney Frank represented Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives between 1981 and 2013. He chaired the House Financial Services Committee from 2007-2011. In 1987, he became the first member of Congress to come out as gay.

In his interview, Frank argued the issue of Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents should be resolved through the 2024 election.

“The best way to do that is to run against Donald Trump… I think he’ll be the nominee. And I would like that to be an election on the issues and the differences and the personal abilities, and not clouded by these political things,” the former Democrat lawmaker said.

“I think it was a political mistake to divert attention from the fundamental issue that we should be deciding next year,” he added.

Political analyst John Burnett, who was also on the program, slammed a “double standard” over Trump’s indictment, as Joe Biden “has had documents for generations, going back to when he was a senator.”
