(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – In a bombshell move, the United States government has decided to withdraw support for Ukraine’s energy grid, rattling many within USAID and beyond amid Russian attacks.

The U.S. State Department has abruptly terminated a USAID initiative aimed at restoring Ukraine’s battered energy grid.
This project was essential, given the frequent power outages resulting from ongoing Russian military attacks.
Accusations of neglect and mismanagement are flying as USAID slashes its Ukrainian presence to just eight personnel from an original 64.
With hundreds of millions invested, many now question the U.S. commitment to Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty.
The decision follows a contentious meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky, where Vice President JD Vance reportedly criticized Zelensky for lacking gratitude towards U.S. support.
This incident questions Zelenskyy’s stance and the effectiveness of U.S. leadership in foreign negotiations.
Referring to the grid support cessation, a USAID official warned, “It significantly undercuts this administration’s abilities to negotiate on the ceasefire, and it’d signal to Russia that we don’t care about Ukraine or our past investments.”
The dismantling of the energy program comes at a crucial time, especially as winter looms.
Since the war began, Russia has launched over 30 mass strikes targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, causing billions in damage.
Ukrainian hopes now rely on alternative funding to sustain energy resilience and prevent economic collapse.
“Each large-scale attack on the energy sector involves 100-200, and now 3,000 different munitions that simultaneously hit power generation facilities, substations, power lines, and gas infrastructure,” explained a Ukrainian official, cited by The Kyiv Independent.
Critics argue that the arbitrary end of foreign support echoes past decisions like President Trump’s freeze on foreign assistance, amplifying concerns over financial transparency.
“We won’t have the eyes on where this money has gone over the last few years,” noted an official involved with Ukraine’s mission.
As Europe’s reliance on U.S. security support wanes, the push to increase regional defense spending grows.
In the meantime, Ukraine’s government has initiated talks for recovery and energy resilience funding with various European entities.
