(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – BREAKING NEWS: Americans’ health is in danger, as over 9,500 cases of apple juice sold at Walmart stores across the United States are being massively recalled due to high levels of “inorganic arsenic.”
The juice, produced by Refresco Beverages US Inc. and sold under Walmart’s “Great Value” brand, comes in 8oz PET plastic bottles, packaged in six-packs.
The recalled products have a UPC of 0-78742-29655-5 and a “best if used by” date of December 28, 2024.
The Food Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the stop of the production began on August 15th and was labeled as a “Class II” recall on August 23rd.
According to the FDA, a “Class II” recall is issued when using or being exposed to a violative product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
In addition, the FDA reported that the apple juice contained arsenic levels of 13.2 parts per billion, which exceeds the agency’s June 2023 guidance that set the upper limit for inorganic arsenic in apple juice at ten parts per billion.
While arsenic is a naturally occurring toxic mineral, the FDA stated, “The potential for long-term adverse health effects from consuming food contaminated with arsenic varies depending on the level of arsenic in the food; age of the consumer; length, amount, and frequency of exposure to arsenic in the food.”
“… and other exposures happening at the same time—either to arsenic from other sources, or other contaminants or to beneficial nutrients,” the agency continued.
The FDA highlighted that exposure to high levels of arsenic can be particularly harmful to young children, leading to “adverse neurological effects such as learning disabilities, behavioral difficulties, and lowered IQ.”
“For adults, long-term exposure to inorganic arsenic has been associated with skin disorders, increased risks for skin, bladder, and lung cancers, and cardiovascular disease,” the FDA continued.
Furthermore, short-term exposure to “very high amounts of inorganic arsenic” can result in various side effects, including nausea, vomiting, bruising, as well as “numbness or burning sensations” in the hands and feet.
Despite its toxic nature, the FDA stressed that the mere presence of arsenic does not automatically mean a food item should be avoided.
