(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – BREAKING NOW: With a city seemingly unable to stop increasingly high numbers of shootings and murders, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has ordered a 10 p.m. curfew for unaccompanied minors in Chicago on weekends. The order comes just as summer heat approaches, and urban violence tends to rise to even higher levels.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, “A day after announcing that unaccompanied minors would be banned from Millennium Park on weekend evenings, Mayor Lori Lightfoot took the next step and rolled back the citywide weekend curfew to 10 p.m. from the current 11 p.m.
“…Lightfoot said those restrictions will remain in place “for the foreseeable future.” Asked to define a successful outcome she said it would be young people enjoying the city safely with respect for others…
“‘My interest is not in rounding up young people and throwing them in the back of a wagon. It’s in enforcing community norms,’ Lightfoot added. Her ‘expectation’ is that young people ‘will abide by’ those community norms when reminded of them.”
Lightfoot’s move to lockdown minors comes after another violent and deadly weekend in the once-proud city with dozens of shootings and numerous homicides.
Policing experts tell Reclaiming America they doubt the young people Lightfoot is targeting will pay attention to the curfew and lockdown.
