Christmas Lights Called ‘Harmful,’ Divisive – Reclaiming America

Christmas Lights Called ‘Harmful,’ Divisive

What does it say about the preservation and celebration of traditional American values when a neighbor tries to shame a homeowner for putting up Christmas lights?

**********

St. Anthony, Minnesota resident Kim Hunt received an anonymous letter from a neighbor on Monday chastising she and her husband for their Christmas light display, according to Fox News.

“‘I couldn’t help but notice your Christmas light display. During these unprecedented times, we have all experienced challenges which casual words just don’t describe what we’re feeling. The idea of twinkling, colorful lights are a reminder of divisions that continue to run through our society, a reminder of systemic biases against our neighbors who don’t celebrate Christmas or who can’t afford to put up lights of their own,’ the letter, shared by Crime Watch Minneapolis, reads. ‘We must do the work of educating ourselves about the harmful impact an outward facing display like yours can have.’

“The letter then challenges Hunt to ‘respect the dignity of all people, while striving to learn from differences, ideas, and opinions of our neighbors.’

“‘We must come together collectively and challenge these institutional inequities,’ the letter concludes. ‘St. Anthony is a community welcoming of all people and we must demand better for ourselves.’

“Hunt told FOX News that she and her husband were ‘very surprised, shocked and saddened by the letter.’

“‘The lights give me joy after coming home from work as a nurse working with COVID,’ she said. ‘I wish we could all celebrate diversity and honor everyone’s traditions.’

“She explained that ‘these times we live in are so divisive’ and that it’s ‘a sad statement that Christmas lights have to be a target.'”

These people who are offended by Christmas lights need to leave the Country. No-
body is demanding that they stay. Do Americans who love this Country a favor and make a fast exit!

  2. Barbie2449 says:

Does this person really believe this stuff? She is the divisive one telling people that they have no right to celebrate their holidays. Who is the divisive one now? We are free (at least for however long) in this country and if I want to put up lights AND a nativity scene I will. And I did! Nuts to these idiots.

  3. Breaker 19 says:

My teen age Great Grandson loves to decorate things. He comes down to my house every Christmas and puts up my tree, strings light all over the outside of my house. Brighter than Grand Central Station. My neighbors don’t even need to turn on their porch light when they go out at night. Haven’t heard a complaint.

Be like the three monkeys.Hear nothing, see nothing, say nothing.Maybe stop breathing our hateful, poluted American air also.I have enough money saved up to buy you a one way ticket to Afghanistan, where you can be assured they will be more than happy to register your every complaint with the proper authorities, and cater to your every desire.Enjoy your flight, and the rest of your FREEDOM from horrible infidel way of life you so despise here. What you should be thankful for among many other things AMERICA offers to fools like yourself,is the fact that many of us served our country to make sure even idiots and retards like you still have the freedom to spout your BS without being sent to prison or worse just for opening your 100mph mouth, backed by a 10mph brain.

A step to socialism. Degrade your history. Take over media. Bankrupt the economy.

This letter is the instrument of a selfish, ignorant, conflicted individual .
YOU are expected to respect the sentiments of those who don’t believe in a Christmas celebration, or can’t afford multi colored lights to display for this celebration; so take your lights down; BUT
THE COWARDLY ANONYMOUS INDIVIDUAL WHO WROTE THE LETTER HAS, AND SHOWS, NO RESPECT FOR YOUR WISHES TO PUT UP LIGHTS AND CELEBRATE A HOLIDAY THAT HAS BEEN A TRADITION IN THIS FREE COUNTRY FOR MUCH LONGER THAN THE WRITER OF THIS LETTER HAS BEEN ALIVE. THIS IS ALSO AN ATTACK ON YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH; AND POSSIBLY FREEDOM OF RELIGION.
This grossly ignorant individual should be searched out and identified for the Communist they are; and pressured to leave the United States if they don’t like the Traditional Celebrations that exist in Our Country. It would also be nice to know who’s on the other side in the event of another Civil War so you know who to defend yourself and your family against.

  7. Terrie Wyatt says:

That’s so stupid, people find racism and bias in everything including Christmas lights. They were probably a bunch of athiest. Christmas lights are suppose to brigjten your day and cheer people up. Those people should kerp their mouths shut and mind their own business.

  8. BB says:

Is this neighbor the Nazi police? He/she needs to mind their own business and live their own life instead of infringing on their neighbors enjoyment. If they don’t like the Christmas lights don’t look or move. There are far more urgent things to worry about right now with people dying from COVID, people losing their businesses, jobs and homes.

  9. JG says:

If anonymous is so offended why not show your name and let people know who you are . Are they to afraid to stand up for what they believe or don’t believe . They must be really offended if they work, that their place of employment gives them time off of work with or without pay depending on who they work for, on all Holidays through out the year. They are to happy take the pay or time off . If they get a Christmas bonus it should be given back , and tell their employer that the bonus offends them. (Show of hands if you think that would happen ). Anonymous should be shamed for not doing what he wants others to do, demand to better themselves before asking others too. Lead by example. Merry Christmas to ALL

    • Erica Norton says:

No, it’s not excepting the bonus, the paid time off, enjoying the company paid party or lunch that offends them, it’s the words used to describe it.Even more immature, petty and pathetic if you really think about that for a minute. Ok, I perfer to call it Christmas, but you perfer Hanukkah, he perfers Holiday, she perfers year end, think I heard someone say profit sharing, whatever it’s a bonus and what adjective each individual person or group of people chooses to use really DOES NOT change the fact that in the end I’m still going to choose what I believe it to be for, it doesn’t change the value of the bonus, it doesn’t effect how I choose to use it, therefore the result is in no way effected, leaving no logical reason for me to waste my already finite time and energy over it. But, now I’m sure I used the wrong pronoun, left 1 out that someone perfers and offended a whole other bunch of people. Come on people, look around there are plenty of will issues, some heartbreaking, some completely unnecessary, some literally live and death that urgently need solutions.Find something that will actually make a difference and mean something to spend all this extra time, money, energy and whatever other resource you may have an abundance of on.

  10. Don Butler says:

That is beyond stupid Christmas lights are great. I love driving around and checking out the displays. Its part of Christmas. Please don’t take them down.

  11. Erica Norton says:

I don’t understand how there are so many people in this world that not only don’t seem to understand we are only here for a very short amount of time and it would be so much more enjoyable and fulfilling if people focus on figuring out what makes them happy instead of focusing on figuring out how to make others unhappy, but then turn around and complain how other people won’t just leave them alone and let them do what makes them happy when they’re not hurting anyone. How can anyone expect for anyone else to mind their own business and let them be happy when they’re not doing so themselves? That should be the beauty of it all, we’re all unique individuals who think, feel, see express and enjoy different things. In different ways. Otherwise not only would life be pretty boring and pointless, in my on opinion anyways, but there’d be no creativity, learning and growing. How would anything ever change, advance or evolve? I bet if anybody really wanted to, pretty much everyone could think of atleast 1 thing every hour of the day they either enjoy being able to do or are greatful for being a le to do or experience. Maybe if everyone made it a point to remind themselves of those things and focus on finding more of them, instead constantly focusing on others, then eventually they’d lose that constant tunnel vision mentality and start realizing there is a big, beautiful, amazing and really quite miraculous world all around them and they only have a very short amount time to be a part of it.

    • Hrabina Krystyna says:

Absolutely! Merry Christmas! Happy Hannukah! Wesolych Swiat Bozego Narodzenia! Buon Natale! We all celebrate, so do’t discriminate!

IF YOU TAKE THEM DOWN THAT EVENT WILL BECOME HISTORY. WE HAVE TO TAKE A STAND, I KNOW I WOULD BUT I CAN’T DICTATE YOUR ACTIONS AND ASK YOU TO DO THE SAME. IT IS UP TO YOU.

  13. mary says:

    tell him to move

  14. Steven Van Ness says:

Tell them to take their head out of their ass.

  15. they have taken offense at your celebration. “taking” is an act of thievery, …like take my money, take my candy …. they took offense when it didn’t belong to them. Thieves!

  16. Linda says:

I cannot believe you are being harassed for your Christmas lights!!! How very, very sad that people can’t just mind their own business!!! I remember as a little kid walking the neighborhood or going in the car to see the light displays. What is wrong with people???

  17. frank says:

The vast majority do, so that means you are in the small minority. So move to the woods, move out of the Country………..Better yet get a life……

  18. Pat says:

Tell the jerk who wrote that letter : If you don’t like our traditions
in this country, then LEAVE ( and don’t come back ! )

  20. Kenneth H. Frazier says:

The best thing that I can do is to pray for them. I truly believe in the power of prayer and if we could just all come together a pray for the folks may make a difference.

  21. Preston says:

Everyone has a fundamental right to worship or just decorate their house. It’s too bad the brainwashed snowflakes try to destroy these rights. Keep your lights burning as a symbol of these rights in our Republic. Too many Marxist trying to attack our history and Christianity. Merry Christmas and God Bless America.

    • Hrabina Krystyna says:

Our cities are already telling us what we can use to decorate our homes…they keep inching us away from our rights, Christmas or not! We need to be supportive of each others rights, or we soon won’t have any!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all! God Bless America!

  22. Sharon says:

I pray you leave those lights and decorations up. Don’t be bullied into something you don’t want. Martin Luther King said “if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything”. My dad and plenty of people you know fought in WWII to give you your rights, respect it and stand for it. God Bless. 🙋🏻‍♀️ 🙏. ✝️

  23. Dc says:

  24. MICHAEL says:

Whomever wrote that letter has way too much time on their hands. Now these nut cases feel they have the right to dictate how others should celebrate Christmas and all other holidays. On the 1st of February starts “BLACK HISTORY MONTH”. My message too Blacks, “GO BACK TO AFRICA” be happy banging on drums.

  25. Veronica says:

Hate mongers and mean spirited people try to take away everyone’s joy
Decorations are delightful and bring joy and happiness to many

  26. Jane Rice says:

The neighbor has a problem that goes far beyond Christmas lights.

  27. Cg says:
