(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – In an act exhibiting the “hurt feelings” syndrome on the celebrity level, woke singer and songwriter Maren Morris just declared she’s quitting country music – and she is blaming racism, transphobia, and former President Donald Trump for her decision.
In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Morris argued that country music had descended into a “misogynistic and racist and homophobic and transphobic” industry.
She also argued that hit country songs, such as Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town,” had emerged as “really toxic weapon[s] in culture wars.”
“After the Trump years, people’s biases were on full display,” the singer stated, as cited by Breitbart News.
“It just revealed who people really were, and that they were proud to be misogynistic and racist and homophobic and transphobic. All these things were being celebrated, and it was weirdly dovetailing with this hypermasculine branch of country music,” Morris elaborated.
She argued the present course of the country music industry was destroying the genre all by itself.
“I thought I’d like to burn it to the ground and start over. But it’s burning itself down without my help. I’ve said everything I can say,” the singer said.
She revealed that her recent on-stage performance with pop star Taylor Swift had “made her feel ‘safe.’”
“It’s such a supportive crowd: 90 percent women and 10 percent gays and dads. I’ve never felt so safe at a live show before,” Morris told the LA Times.
Breitbart stresses that she has been championing numerous “woke causes” in the past few years, including “drag queen entertainment for children and even sex-change surgery for minors.”
In a recent appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race, the singer apologized for what she called country music’s “relationship with LGBTQ[QIAAP2S]+ members.”
“Coming from country music and its relationship with, like, LGBTQ[QIAAP2S]+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry, and I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music. So, I just thank you guys for inspiring me. I’m gonna cry. I’m gonna go!” Morris said.
She has previously attacked fellow singer Jason Aldean and his wife Brittany for denouncing “gender-affirming” treatments for children. Morris called the latter a “scumbag human” and “Insurrection Barbie.”
