Did COVID Restrictions Lead To a Student Athlete’s Suicide?

An Illinois high school quarterback committed suicide on January 7, apparently after suffering from depression. He attended Glenbrook North High School in the north suburbs of Illinois,” according to The College Fix.

Dylan Buckner’s parents say that while he struggled with depression before coronavirus spread across the country, the governmental response to it worsened his depression.

‘The family believes that had COVID not happened, or the country’s response to COVID had been more effective, Dylan would still be alive today,’ Chris Buckner, Dylan’s dad, said in a statement published by NBC 5 Chicago. He also said that ‘[Dylan’s] depression worsened significantly after COVID hit.’ [emphasis added]

“‘He said he was coming this year, this was going to be his year, and then I was waiting to see it,’ Darius Hunt, Dylan’s teammate said, according to NBC 5. ‘But unfortunately, it got canceled due to COVID.’

“Buckner had 14 offers to play college football and aimed to play for MIT after graduation. He owned the school record for career pass completions, NBC 5 said.”

I believe it is possible. Teenagers, take everything way harder, than adults. Every disappointment is the end of the world. They have tunnel vision a lot.

So sorry for this life that has ended. I believe that the gov’t is at fault. Kids feel lost. Everything is social distancing. After Biden gets in you will see all this rhetoric will come to a halt. This was done to make Trump look bad and all his fault. Dems are so crazy. Anyway sorry for the loss

This is much too tragic for all. I am so sorry to read about Dylan’s hopes and aspirations for his brilliant potential future and then of his broken heart!!!
The experts and the clueless politicians still don’t accept all the lateral victims of the lockdowns that they caused. A terrible crime that the governors, mayors, teacher unions and teachers have been committing these last 11 months. Shame on them all!!!
    Please accept my heartfelt condolances.

I do believe the corrupt Democratic Party has deliberately shut down this country with a planned virus, with a plan to cripple businesses and cause mental instability for all and to blame President Trump. This world is unstable now and unless President Trump remains we will become like China. Polosi, Schumer, Biden, Harris etc. all should be removed and or imprisioned. This election was totally stolen and there is plenty of evidence to prove it and so many pay offs. Many many years of Democratic corruption and it needs to stop.

Well hell yes, this country has never been locked down, like were in a prison. Many people are losing hope, this is and will be happening, for some time, people have, and will lose everything, what can they come back to, possibly nothing. This government is a big cause, especially crazy n. piglosi, who has screwed the country over, for years, when she’s gone the country will do much better. Get rid of the looney=tune, and all will be better off.

All sports should be cancelled. If we can’t have school, why do we still have football games and basketball. The players are in constant contact with one another. No social distancing. Both sides handling the same ball. Against all the rules set supposedly to stop the virus from spreading.
