(ReclaimingAmerica.net) In the wake of yesterday’s mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 school children and two adult teachers dead, Elon Musk, the wealthiest man in the world with several companies headquartered in Texas, wants stricter background checks of gun buyers and wants the sale of “assault weapons” restricted.
In emails to the television business network CNBC, Musk touched on a range of gun and mass shooting issues.
Musk faults the news media for providing too much coverage to mass murderers. He believes they crave attention, saying, “Regarding recent events, the shooters are obviously doing this to generate the most attention possible. Why is the media doing exactly what the mass-murderers want?”
Musk also told CNBC he supports “tight background checks” for all gun sales and that sales of assault weapons should be restricted to people with particular circumstances, like gun range owners or people who live in a “high-risk location, like gang warfare.”
At the same time, Musk professed to be a strong supporter of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, saying, “I strongly believe that the right to bear arms is an important safeguard against potential tyranny of government. Historically, maintaining their power over the people is why those in power did not allow public ownership of guns.”
