(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – A new scandal is now plaguing the Democrat ticket for the 2024 presidential election as Vice President Kamala Harris faces allegations of plagiarism within her 2009 book “Smart on Crime,” putting her integrity under scrutiny once again.
See a comparison between Harris’s new plagiarism scandal and Joe Biden’s 1987 plagiarism scandal in the tweet below!
Dr. Stefan Weber, known for exposing academic misconduct, has reportedly identified numerous instances of lifted passages within the book.
These allegations question the authenticity of a work associated with such a prominent U.S. political figure.
Dr. Stefan Weber’s extensive analysis revealed over a dozen passages allegedly copied by Kamala Harris from multiple sources, including an NBC News report and materials from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the Urban Institute.
The instances of plagiarism are reportedly significant enough to attract attention to potential intellectual property issues.
Interestingly, the book, co-authored by ghostwriter Joan O’C. Hamilton, left Hamilton surprised by the allegations.
Harris’ book reportedly mirrors content from pre-existing materials, with some passages allegedly copied directly from a 2008 NBC News article, a 2007 John Jay College press release, and a 2004 Urban Institute report.
The vice president is accused of using long passages from Wikipedia without citation, adding another layer to the startling allegations against her.
Christopher Rufo, associated with the Manhattan Institute, compared the findings to those in former Harvard president Claudine Gay’s doctoral thesis.
Rufo compiled evidence to highlight five cases where Harris’s book reflected published works without proper citation, labeling the act as plagiarism.
The book’s duplications allegedly lack appropriate quotation marks and citations, breaching common intellectual standards, The New York Post reports.
In response to the scandal, Harris’ team suggested the presence of footnotes and endnotes, but Rufo contested that not all the examples had been properly cited.
“This is a book that’s been out for 15 years, and the Vice President clearly cited sources and statistics in footnotes and endnotes throughout,” argued Harris campaign spokesman James Singer.
Despite the allegations, Harris’ campaign swiftly dismissed the claims, asserting they are politically motivated attacks by conservative operatives.
Interestingly, Dr. Weber’s investigation isn’t the vice president’s first encounter with plagiarism accusations.
Harris previously faced criticism for allegedly adopting a “no tax on tips” proposal from former President Trump.
Additionally, these newly surfaced allegations mirror a historical precedent, where President Joe Biden faced similar accusations early in his career.
The potential ramifications of these recent allegations on voters ahead of the upcoming election remain undetermined.
“Kamala Harris’s publisher, Chronicle Books, is in damage control mode,” Rufo crowed on X.
“They know Kamala lied. They know that we know Kamala lied. In America, plagiarism has become a moral pillar of the regime—and they will slander anyone who notices.” he added, cited by the Post.
A plagiarism scandal ended the Biden presidential run in 1987. Now one is roiling the Harris campaign.
