(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Joe Arpaio, famously dubbed “America’s toughest sheriff” for his unconventional jail management practices in Maricopa, Arizona, is suing Joe Biden over a defamatory characterization of him as a “felon.”
The lawsuit is being managed by Larry Klayman, a well-known legal activist who founded Judicial Watch and FreedomWatchUSA, and is filed in the Circuit Court of the 13th Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County, Florida.
The dispute stems from an advertisement released by Biden’s campaign, which Arpaio and his lawyer assert falsely labeled him as a felon.
Klayman expressed his intent to protect Arpaio’s reputation by stating, “I will not stand by and allow my great friend and client, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, to be smeared and defamed by a dishonest president and his Democrat henchmen simply to harm Trump’s presidential election prospects.”
He further accused Biden of severe cognitive issues and corruption, suggesting a deliberate attempt to undermine Trump’s support by attacking Arpaio:
“By equating the two men as ‘felons,’ the desperate Joe Biden, who not only is alleged to have taken bribes, laundered through his drug addict and true ‘convicted felon’ Hunter Biden, but who is now seen as essentially braindead with severe cognitive issues, I will not stand idly by to allow this falsehood to be perpetrated on the American public.”
“Joe Biden and his evil clowns at Biden for President, Inc., will be held to legally account and to pay for their defamation of a good and patriotic man, which has contributed to serious threats against him,” Klayman said.
Arpaio gained fame for making inmates wear pink underwear and setting up chain gangs to perform public service.
He was involved in a lengthy legal battle over his department’s treatment of illegals, which ended in a misdemeanor conviction for contempt of court. This conviction was later pardoned by former President Donald Trump.
The lawsuit alleges that the motive behind the defamatory campaign advertisement was to damage both Arpaio’s and Trump’s reputations, particularly targeting voters in Florida.
This legal confrontation seeks to address not only the specific claims made in the Biden campaign ad but also the broader implications of such statements on Arpaio’s legacy and the political landscape.
The lawsuit demands millions in damages for defamation, defamation per se and defamation by implication.
