Feinstein Being Replaced by Total Radical

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – In total capitulation to the extremist left, California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom has appointed a radical abortionist to serve the remainder of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein’s term.

Two days after 90-year-old Feinstein’s death last week following a long illness, Newsom designated Laphonza Butler, a former aide to Vice President Kamala Harris and the head of a radical pro-abortion group, to serve as a member of the U.S. Senate until January 2025.

“As we mourn the enormous loss of Senator Feinstein, the very freedoms she fought for — reproductive freedom, equal protection, and safety from gun violence — have never been under greater assault,” Newsom declared.

“Laphonza will carry the baton left by Senator Feinstein, continue to break glass ceilings, and fight for all Californians in Washington DC,” the governor added, sharing an 85-second video on Butler’s life.

Since 2021, Butler has served as the director of EMILY’s List, a political action committee (PAC) seeking to help elect pro-abortion women to government offices. Open Secrets data shows the PAC spent $5 million during the 2022 election cycle.

Butler, whose age is listed on Wikipedia as “44-45,” was a senior advisor to Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

She also served as an Airbnb executive and head of the Service Employees International Union, reports National Review.

“I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Sen. @DianneFeinstein. Not only was she a titan in the Senate, but a legendary figure for women in politics and around the country,” Newsom’s senator-designate wrote on X on Feinstein’s passing.

A Breitbart News report noted a controversy over Butler’s residence, as she has been a resident of Maryland, with a Federal Election Commission record showing her residence there only 31 days ago.

It is noted that the new California U.S. senator removed “Maryland” as her place of residence from her X profile as soon as Newsom tapped her to succeed Feinstein.

California’s government had previously promised to appoint a black woman to the U.S. Senate if Feinstein had to retire before the end of her term, The Daily Caller notes.

However, his decision to designate Butler for the job was condemned by U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee, a black woman, who is among the three acting Democrat representatives from California vying for Feinstein’s seat in the 2024 election.

“If the Governor intends to keep his promise and appoint a Black woman to the Senate, the people of California deserve the best possible person for that job. Not a token appointment,” Lee said in a statement.
