Fetterman Hospitalized for Psychiatric Reasons

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – US Senator John Fetterman, a Pennsylvania Democrat, has voluntarily checked himself into a hospital for clinical depression treatment, his office announced.

According to the statement, the freshman senator, who has been struggling with significant health issues since the spring, has been admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

“Last night, Senator John Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to receive treatment for clinical depression,” the senator’s Chief of Staff, Adam Jentleson, said.

“While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks,” Jentleson said.

He added Fetterman’s clinical depression hospitalization had been recommended by the attending physician of the US Congress, Dr. Brian Monahan, The Daily Caller reported.

“On Monday, John was evaluated by Dr. Brian P. Monahan… Yesterday [Wednesday], Dr. Monahan recommended inpatient care at Walter Reed. John agreed, and he is receiving treatment on a voluntary basis,” Jentleson continued.

“After examining John, the doctors at Walter Reed told us that John is getting the care he needs, and will soon be back to being himself,” the senator’s chief of staff said.

Fetterman’s new hospitalization comes less than a week after being discharged from a George Washington University hospital on February 10.

The freshman Democrat senator was admitted there two days earlier after feeling light-headedness towards the end of a Democrat Senate retreat.

Fetterman suffered a stroke in May 2022, just four days before the Democrat primary in Pennsylvania, which he won. At the time, he was Pennsylvania’s lieutenant governor.

The stroke was likely caused by atrial fibrillation and a decreased heart pump, which he was diagnosed with in 2017.

In comments to The New York Times last week, Jentleson said the first-term senator’s health might have been permanently damaged due to his immediate return to the campaign trail instead of resting after the stroke.

Fetterman and his team have been criticized for allegedly hiding how much the Democrat politician’s health has deteriorated.

On the day when he had a severe and life-saving surgery, his wife, Gisele, referred to his stroke as a “little hiccup.”

Concerns that the Fetterman campaign wasn’t being honest about his medical conditions has led some – such as The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette – to endorse his Republican rival, Trump-backed Dr. Mehmet Oz, in the 2022 midterms.

In the election, Fetterman flipped the United States Senate seat of Republican Pat Toomey by winning 51% of the vote, becoming the first Democrat to hold it since 1962.
