The explosion erupted from a detached garage where illegal fireworks were stored, necessitating over 130 firefighters to battle the inferno.
This latest disaster comes as government officials continue pushing Americans away from traditional Independence Day celebrations.
The major emergency broke out shortly after 9 p.m. last night, quickly engulfing three one-story homes.
First responders discovered a 33-year-old woman with severe injuries who was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Despite the city’s complete ban on fireworks, the dangerous explosives had been stored in a residential garage.
“One woman was critically injured Thursday night in a fireworks-related fire that burned multiple homes in Los Angeles,” confirmed the Los Angeles Fire Department in an official statement.
The massive response included not only firefighters but also arson investigators, hazmat teams, and the LAPD bomb squad.
Beyond the critically injured woman, a 68-year-old suffered smoke inhalation but refused hospital transport.
Several pets, including at least one dog, required emergency veterinary care due to injuries sustained in the chaos.
According to LAFD officials, “The Los Angeles Fire Department said the incident involved active fireworks inside a detached residential garage.”
One witness described the terrifying scene, “I felt almost like the impact, you feel it. And as soon as I heard that, I turned the street to see if anyone needed help and more fireworks started going off.”
“It felt like an explosion … the fireworks started going off and sooner or later all these fires started coming,” they added.

Additionally, the fire’s intensity damaged four homes and a vehicle, while also causing a gas leak and downing power lines. Utility services had to be called in to address these additional hazards.
Firefighters managed to control the blaze in under an hour despite the ongoing risk of more fireworks detonating during their operations.
Rather than focusing on improved safety education, the LAFD doubled down on their total ban approach. The department urged:
“If you are storing or considering using fireworks this weekend, we beg you to reconsider and attend a professional show. The most immediate way to render your fireworks inert is to soak them in water. Please step up and take care of your loved ones, pets, and neighbors.”
The incident adds to a concerning pattern of fireworks-related accidents in California leading up to Independence Day celebrations.
Although the exact cause of this particular fire remains under investigation, the tragedy highlights the ongoing tension between traditional American celebrations and government restrictions.
The Mayor’s Crisis Team has been deployed to assist residents who have been displaced by this devastating explosion.
