Concealed Carry Handgun

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Happening Now: Yesterday, ten Republican members of the United States Senate agreed to join with Democrats to enact legislation increasing gun control and other measures in the wake of the mass shootings at a school, a grocery store, a medical facility, and at other locations in recent weeks.

The ten Republican Senators are Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), John Cornyn (R-TX), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Richard Burr (R-NC), Susan Collins (R-ME), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Rob Portman (R-OH), Mitt Romney (R-UT), and Pat Toomey (R-PA).

There are numerous provisions in the bill designed to bolster mental health issues. The measures directly impacting the ownership of guns include:

  • Resources to states and tribes to create and administer laws that help ensure deadly weapons are kept out of the hands of individuals whom a court has determined to be a significant danger to themselves or others, consistent with state and federal due process and constitutional protections.
  • Convicted domestic violence abusers and individuals subject to domestic violence restraining orders are included in NICS, including those who have or have had a continuing relationship of a romantic or intimate nature.
  • Cracks down on criminals who illegally evade licensing requirements.
  • For buyers under 21 years of age, it requires an investigative period to review juvenile and mental health records, including checks with state databases and local law enforcement.
  • Cracks down on criminals who illegally straw purchase and traffic guns.

President Joe Biden has already announced he will sign the legislation once the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives have passed the measure.
