(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is once again under fire for lying about his past, this time in a letter by the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce that has come to light in the middle of his vice-presidential campaign.
In his first Congressional run, Walz bragged on his campaign site that he received a 1993 award from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce for his contributions to the business sector.
However, it turns out that Walz never received such an award.
A November 1, 2006, letter from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce then-president Barry L. Kennedy clarified this.
The letter read, “We researched this matter and can confirm that you have not been the recipient of any award from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce.”
Kennedy did not speculate on Walz’s motives but urged him to stop mentioning the Chamber to avoid making it seem like an endorsement.
He also noted that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce had backed Walz’s opponent, Congressman Gil Gutknecht, for his dedication to small business issues.
This revelation was brought to public attention by Minnesota media outlet Alpha News last week, which reignited interest in the controversy.
The Post Bulletin reported back then that Walz’s campaign had updated its website to correct the error, stating he had received an award from the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce, or the Jaycees, not the Chamber of Commerce.
His campaign manager at the time dismissed the original claim as a “typographical error.”
Responding to Fox Digital regarding the 2006 issue, the Harris-Walz campaign remarked that Walz is known for his frank and informal manner of speaking.
“Governor Walz speaks the way real people speak — openly and off the cuff. The American people appreciate that Gov. Walz tells it like it is and doesn’t talk like a politician, and they appreciate the difference between someone who occasionally misspeaks and a pathological liar like Donald Trump,” the campaign stated.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of accusations against Walz of fabricating details of his background.
He has been particularly criticized by veterans who claim he has misrepresented his military service.
Although Walz served for 24 years in the Army National Guard and retired in 2005 after launching a successful Congressional career, he has been accused of inaccurately portraying his military rank.
