Hiding a Child’s ‘Gender Transition’ from Parents Could Soon Be Illegal

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – A bill prohibiting schools from hiding a child’s “gender transition” from their parents has been passed by Virginia’s House of Delegates, the lower chamber of the state’s legislature.

The bill passed the Virginia House 50-48 in a vote along party lines, with all votes in favor coming from the GOP. The Republicans hold a 52-48 majority in the chamber.

The draft state law will now go to Virginia’s Senate.

The proposed legislation is known as “Sage’s Law” as it was named after a Virginia girl who “transitioned” secretly under peer pressure, ran away from home, and became a rape and abuse victim. At the same time, her parents were accused of “misgendering” her.

If the bill is approved and signed by the Governor, it will oblige school employees to inform the parents if a child starts identifying with “a gender different from the student’s biological sex.”

The draft law also stipulates that treating a child based on their biological sex cannot be qualified as neglect or abuse.

The bill passed the Virginia House amid Democrat protests that it is “forcibly outing transgender students” and that it was part of “a coordinated attack against transgender kids across our country,” The Washington Times reported, as cited by Breitbart News.

“Virginia law needs to be absolutely clear that affirming a child’s biological sex does not justify taking a child away from their family,” said the bill’s Republican sponsor, Del. Dave LaRock.

“Teachers, school counselors, social service workers, and courts must respect the parent’s fundamental rights in the parent-child relationship by involving parents immediately when a child is experiencing serious challenges,” he added.

In January, Michelle, the mother of 14-year-old Virginia girl Sage, testified before the state House about her daughter’s “transitioning experience.”

“All the girls there [in Sage’s class] were bi, trans, lesbian, emo,” so the girl decided to use a different name and pronouns, Michelle said. However, she and the girl’s father were never informed of that by the school.

The mother recounted how her daughter was bullied in the boy’s restroom. She then ran away and ended up being a sex trafficking victim in Washington, DC, and Baltimore, Maryland.

After that, Sage was placed in a male juvenile facility. There she was assaulted more and given drugs. In the meantime, the girl’s parents faced accusations of abuse because they were “misgendering” her.

Sage escaped from Maryland to Texas but was “drugged, raped, beaten and exploited” before being brought back to her parents.

“Sage says she doesn’t know who she was back then. She wasn’t a boy. She just wanted to have friends,” the mother said.

“But her school, the judge, the attorney, and the doctor were all blinded by their ideology,” Michelle continued.

“The consequences for Sage were unspeakable. Please don’t let ideology harm another child. Let parents do our jobs. We know our children best, and we love them a million times more,” the embattled mother stated.
