(ReclaimingAmerica.net) Just moments ago, on a Friday when many Americans pay little attention to the news as they prepare for the weekend, the United States House of Representatives passed a bill that will “codify” Roe v. Wade as the law of the land.
In other words, it would protect abortion under federal law.
Of course, the big question is whether it can pass muster in the United States Senate.
The bill passed in the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives by a vote of 218-211. Of note, Congressman Henry Cuellar – a Democrat representing a district in Texas – joined Republicans in voting “no.”
Surprising no one, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spearheaded the passage of the bill and, in the process, stated, “This is about freedom, about freedom of women to have choice, about the size and timing of their families, not the business of people on the court or members of Congress.”
Still, as noted above, the bill must pass in the United States Senate, and the odds of that happening are extremely low given the current political makeup of that body.
House Democrats are about to vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act, which, had it first been introduced this year, almost certainly would’ve been called the “Protecting Health for Birthing Persons Act.” Details on the bill at @NRO https://t.co/6BtCv4gP2I
