(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – An illegal immigrant from Mexico has been sentenced to fewer than 20 years in prison for one murder, one attempted murder, and one assault with a weapon he committed in Massachusetts.
The illegal alien – 31-year-old Franklin Freddy Meave Vazquez perpetrated the crimes on September 23, 2018, on board a commercial scalloping boat on which he was employed as one of seven crew members.
He committed the murder and the additional assaults while the vessel was off the coast of the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts.
A federal court in Boston has just sentenced Vazquez to 19.5 years in federal prison for one count of second-degree murder, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of attempted murder. He pleaded guilty to all three at a court hearing back in March this year.
After serving the sentence, the Mexican national is supposed to be deported from the United States, Breitbart News reported.
Vazquez was working aboard the Captain Billy Haver boat in the fall of 2018. The scalloping vessel was about 50 miles off Nantucket’s coast when the illegal immigrant started attacking the other crew members.
The Mexican first used a hammer to hit another crew member inside the shucking house, leaving the latter unconscious.
After that, the illegal alien went onto the deck, using a fillet knife to stab another crew member multiple times.
Another crew member rushed to help the victim but was struck by Vazquez with a hammer and fell down a ladder to the ice hold.
The attacker then struggled with the captain of the boat and climbed to the top of the rigging mast until the evening when the US Coast Guard arrived and arrested him.
The first and the second of his three victims were transported by rescue boat to a nearby ship as a medical emergency, but the second stabbing attack victim was pronounced dead.
The media reports and the announcements of the Department of Justice noted that Vazquez was in the United States “illegally.” Still, they do not reveal details as to how he entered the US and how long he has been living in the country. He resided in the state of Virginia.
