(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – While much of the focus is on the substance of the leaked draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and the fact that if the decision is aligned with the February draft it will mean Roe v. Wade is overturned, there is also significant attention being directed at discovering who leaked the draft and why?
In fact, earlier today, Chief Justice John Roberts issued a statement declaring that he has directed the appropriate authorities to launch an investigation to determine who violated the court’s trust. And, for a good reason.

It’s impossible to overstate the earthquake this will cause inside the Court, in terms of the destruction of trust among the Justices and staff. This leak is the gravest, most unforgivable sin.

Still, as several commentators have noted, one possible motive behind the leak is apparent: The leaker may be trying to intimidate at least one Supreme Court Justice into changing their vote and keeping Roe v. Wade as the law of the land.
But there are other possibilities as well. Possibilities that still involve trying to intimidate a Justice.
As Reason Magazine writes:
“Some suggest it was leaked by a liberal law clerk who opposes the ruling and wants to stop it. Others suggest it may have been leaked by a conservative staffer who supports the draft opinion as is and is upset by its subsequent watering down. In either theory, the leaker is presumed to want to change the ultimate opinion with this leak.”
While it is far more likely that it is a liberal (or liberals) trying to change the Court’s final opinion as currently expressed in the leaked draft, either way, it is a grave matter that someone is interfering in the deliberations and opinion writing process of the highest court of the land.
