(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – The lives of the Justices on the United States Supreme Court are in danger as they have become prime “targets for assassination” after their pro-life ruling earlier this year, Justice Samuel Alito has warned.
Alito seemed to refer to risks for the six conservatives out of a total of nine justices on the court.
At the end of June, in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the conservative majority ruled against the legality of universal federal-level abortion.
The decision overturned the nearly 50-year-old Roe v. Wade decision and once again made abortion a state-level issue, allowing at least 26 of the 50 states to implement partial or complete abortion bans.
Before the official Dobbs ruling on June 24, however, back on May 2, there was a leak of the decision whose source remains unknown.
Based on that leak, Justice Alito has warned that Supreme Court Justices have become assassination targets.
“The leak also made those of us who were thought to be in the majority in support of overruling Roe and Casey targets for assassination because it gave people a rational reason to think they could prevent that from happening by killing one of us. And we know that,” Alito stated in Washington, DC.
“[The leak] was a grave betrayal of trust by somebody, and it was a shock because nothing like that had happened in the past, so it certainly changed the atmosphere at the court for the remainder of last term,” the conservative justice said at an event of the Heritage Foundation, as cited by Breitbart News.
He emphasized that the “unprecedented breach” of the Dobbs leak sought to intimidate the Supreme Court justices.
“You can see by reading those opinions, we sometimes disagree pretty passionately about the law. And we have not in recent years been all that restrained about the times in which we express our disagreement,” Alito elaborated.
“I’m as guilty as others probably on this score. But none of that is personal. And that is something that I think I wish the public understood,” he argued.
The Dobbs decision leak triggered violent leftist protests outside the conservative justices’ homes in Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland.
In one case, a 26-year-old man from California went to Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home to assassinate him.
According to the FBI, the wannabe assassin planned to kill at least two other US Supreme Court justices. He has admitted that he was motivated by both the anti-abortion decision and the Supreme Court’s ruling to restore concealed carry gun rights in New York.
President Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland has not taken any measures to protect the lives of the Supreme Court justices.
This led the Republican governors of Virginia and Maryland – Glenn Youngkin and Larry Hogan – to step in and offer protection to the justices residing in their states.
