Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Slams Aaron Rodgers

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – The controversy surrounding Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers being unable to play because he tested positive for COVID-19 and for violating the NFL’s COVID vaccine protocol has grown larger and shows no signs of diminishing soon.

While his professional advertising relationship with one Wisconsin-based hospital care system, Prevea Health, was terminated, State Farm Insurance, which has had a long-running advertising campaign prominently featuring the future Hall of Fame quarterback, is standing behind Rodgers.

State Farm issued a lengthy statement yesterday encouraging Americans to get vaccinated while saying of Rodgers, “We don’t support some of the statements that he has made, but we respect his right to have his own personal point of view.” [emphasis added]

Now, NBA legend and political activist Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who often comments on issues from a liberal point of view, has jumped into the fray and blasted Rodgers in harsher terms than anyone else to date while alluding to racism being involved in the controversy.

While arguing that Rodgers’s actions are “damaging professional sports” forever, Jabbar stated of Rodgers:

  • “I can’t help but think of Colin Kaepernick, who was blacklisted by the NFL for passively expressing his frustration with systemic racism…while multi-millionaire Rodgers will continue to play…”
  • “His lies, his illogical defense, and his hubris damage all professional athletes.”
  • “Instead of consulting immunologists, he consulted anti-vaxxer and podcast host Joe Rogan, who also contracted the virus.”
  • “If he ever requires open-heart surgery, will he hand the scalpel to romance writers because they know about matters of the heart?”

Will Americans who support Aaron Rodgers’s decision not to get vaccinated and seek alternative methods to boost his immune system and combat the virus be influenced by Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s statements? Will State Farm Insurance change its decision about standing behind Rodgers’s “right to have his own personal point of view”? Will the NFL change its rules and regulations when it comes to individual players and their medical decisions?

We’ll continue to follow the issue and let you know.
