Killed Over Abortion

Unborn Child

( – A couple’s dispute over aborting their unborn child turned deadly after the mother secretly traveled to another state to terminate the baby and was shot and killed by the father when he found out.

A 22-year-old Texas man, Harold Thompson, killed his girlfriend, 26-year-old Gabriella Gonzalez, for aborting their unborn infant after the latter traveled to Colorado to have the abortion, the Dallas police department announced.

Thompson was charged with murder in the shooting death of Gabriella Gonzalez, which was committed in a strip mall parking lot, the police revealed, as cited by The New York Post.

The 26-year-old woman returned from an almost 800-mile journey to Colorado the night before her killing, an arrest warrant affidavit has disclosed.

Texas has a heartbeat law banning abortion after the sixth week of pregnancy – except for cases of a medical emergency.

In contrast, abortion in Colorado is legal at all stages of pregnancy.

According to the report, Thompson became “angry” over his girlfriend’s abortion before he pulled the trigger.

“It is believed that the suspect was the father of the child,” the affidavit reveals.

“The suspect did not want (Gonzalez) to get an abortion,” the document informs further.

The report explains that a surveillance video from the strip mall parking lot shows Thompson and Gonzalez fighting around 7:30 am.

The court documents describe how the father put the mother of the aborted baby into a chokehold.

Gonzalez at first “shrugs him off,” and the couple continues to walk side by side.

Moments later, Thompson allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot his girlfriend in the head, the affidavit informs.

According to the police, the suspect shot Gonzalez multiple times as she was already down on the ground and then ran away.

The 26-year-old woman who had aborted their child days earlier died at the scene.

The shooting may not have been the first instance of violence between the couple, as Thompson had choked a woman once in March and had been charged with assaulting a female family member.

Even though the affidavit does not mention the victim’s name, the Post assumes it probably was Gonzalez.

It reveals, however, that the victim had told the police the 22-year-old had “beat her up multiple times throughout the entirety of their relationship.”

The report claims Thompson had told the cops the woman he abused was pregnant with his child.

“[The victim] reiterated that she is scared of the suspect because he had made threats to harm her family and her children,” the affidavit says.
