New Developments In Buffalo, New York Mass-Shooting


( – Happening Now: According to law enforcement authorities investigating yesterday’s mass shooting at a Tops Friendly Markets on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo, New York, the suspect, 18-year-old Payton Gendron, traveled from a small New York town hours away to specifically conduct his violent racist rampage at the grocery store in a neighborhood consisting of predominantly Black residents.

At a press conference, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said, “The shooter traveled hours from outside this community to perpetrate this crime on the people of Buffalo, a day when people were enjoying the sunshine, enjoying family, and enjoying friends. People in a supermarket, shopping, and bullets raining down on them. People’s lives being snuffed out in an instant for no reason.”

In another development, Erie County District Attorney John Flynn released a statement outlining what he believes took place. In part, the statement reads:

“It is alleged that on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the defendant drove to Tops Friendly Markets on Jefferson Avenue near Riley Street in the City of Buffalo with the intent to commit a crime. The defendant, who was allegedly wearing tactical gear and armed with an assault weapon, encountered several people in the parking lot. The defendant is accused of intentionally shooting four people outside of the grocery store. Three of the four victims died from their injuries.

“It is further alleged that the defendant entered the store and exchanged gunfire with an armed security guard. The security guard, who was a retired member of the Buffalo Police Department, died from his injuries. The defendant allegedly shot eight more people inside of the store. Six died from their injuries. Two people were injured by gunfire.

“The defendant was quickly apprehended by responding police officers.”

Flynn also noted that he is working closely with federal law enforcement, and the case is being investigated for “potential terrorism and hate crimes.”

Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia confirmed that eleven of the thirteen people shot were African American, while two victims were white.
