Retired Officer Shane Lamond was convicted for lying and obstructing justice concerning the leakage of sensitive information to Enrique Tarrio.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson delivered the verdict in a trial absent of jurors.

The sentencing is scheduled for April 3, pending any appeals.

Prosecutors argued Lamond acted as a “double agent” for the Proud Boys, endangering public trust by tipping off Tarrio about potential investigations.

Despite both men’s testimony denying the exchange of sensitive data, Jackson concluded their statements lacked credibility.

The communications between them revealed more than just rapport-building.

In a twist, Judge Jackson noted patterns where Tarrio would disseminate information promptly after speaking with Lamond.

Prosecutors presented Lamond’s encrypted messages following the infamous banner burning as clear evidence of collusion.

“Lamond and Tarrio talk, and Tarrio immediately disseminates what he learns,” Judge Jackson stated, cited by News4Jax.

Lamond’s defense argued his intent was professional, aiming to establish Tarrio as a source.

Emails uncovered, however, imply a different story, where his partiality leaned towards the Proud Boys even beyond January 6.
