(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Did United States House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just kill legislation that was on track to provide more funding for police officers across the United States of America?
That the concern given Pelosi just “paused” that legislation in favor of passing the Inflation Reduction Act instead.
More often than not, when legislation is “paused,” it dies in Congress. Particularly in an election year when members are in a rush to start their August recess and return to their districts to campaign for reelection.
The Washington Examiner describes what is taking place on “Pelosi hits pause on legislation to give police more funding“:
“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced a pause on policing legislation until next month in a letter to Democratic colleagues on Wednesday.
“The priority for the week should be passing the Inflation Reduction Act as the House reconvenes briefly to vote on the climate, health, and tax bill, which passed the Senate on Sunday, Pelosi said.” [emphasis added]
As for the bill that would potentially provide more funds for cops:
“Discussions surrounding the passage of a public safety bill have stalled as progressive and centrist Democrats continue to disagree over whether to provide additional funding to law enforcement agencies without enough accountability measures.” [emphasis added]
Still, moderate Democrats who want to add funding for police are angry the bill has been “paused” as they wanted to be able to go home and tell their constituents that they’ve added funding for police.
Now, that won’t happen, and the bill could die a slow death.
