Pope: Christians Should Send Christmas Money to Ukraine

Pope Francis

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has called upon Christians worldwide to donate money to Ukraine, which has been fighting a life-and-death war with Putin’s Russia for nearly ten months.

During his weekly General Audience in the Vatican on Wednesday, the pope said Christians should be modest with their Christmas spending this year and send the spare money to a struggling Ukraine.

“There is so much suffering in Ukraine, so much, so much!” Pope Francis told the crowd, as cited by Breitbart News.

“I would like to draw some attention to the coming Christmas, even the parties. It’s nice to celebrate Christmas, to have parties… but let’s lower the level of Christmas spending a bit,” the pontiff elaborated.

He strongly urged Christians to reduce their expenditures on the commercial side of the holidays to help the suffering people of Ukraine.

“Let’s have a humbler Christmas with humbler gifts. We send what we save to the Ukrainian people, who are in need, who suffer so much,” declared the head of the Roman Catholic Church.

“They are hungry, they feel the cold, and many die because there are no doctors or nurses at hand,” he added.

“Let us not forget: a Christmas, yes; at peace with the Lord, yes, but with Ukrainians in our hearts. And let’s make that concrete gesture for them,” Pope Francis concluded.

The Russian military launched an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine on February 24 of this year at the orders of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.

The Russian leader seemingly sought to restore in some form the former Soviet empire, starting with the conquest of Ukraine, which he thought could be achieved within several days.

However, Ukraine’s people, roughly the size of Texas and the population of California, surprised the world by resisting the Russian invasion fiercely and efficiently.

The Ukrainians have also been increasingly aided by the supplies of Western military aid, most notably top-notch US-made weapon systems.

More than 97,000 Russian troops have been killed in combat, and roughly 20,000 Russian military hardware pieces have been destroyed, according to the Ukrainian government – not counting the casualties of Putin’s mercenaries and proxies.

As Ukraine has managed to liberate half of the Russian-conquered territories, Putin has unleashed a campaign of terror, raining cruise missiles and Iranian killer drones on Ukrainian cities and electricity infrastructure daily to inflict maximum pain on the nation’s civilians.
