(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – John Kolb, a former battalion commander in Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s National Guard unit, recently addressed proof that Walz lied about his military rank.
Kolb expressed his concern on Facebook by stating that Walz did not deserve the rank of “Command Sergeant Major,” as he had not successfully completed any duties at that level.
“He did not earn the rank or successfully complete any assignment as an E9,” Kolb wrote. “It is an affront to the Noncommissioned Officer Corps that he continues to glom onto the title.”
Kolb emphasized the seriousness of leadership roles in the military with an analogy: “I can sit in the cockpit of an airplane, it does not make me a pilot,” he explained. “Similarly, when the demands of service and leadership at the highest level got real, he chose another path.”
This controversy comes at a time when Walz has been under scrutiny for claims of “stolen valor” and criticized for inflating his military accomplishments.
Previously, Walz’s official biography suggested he retired at a higher rank than he actually did, implying he left the service as a command sergeant major, an E-9.
This Harris campaign later tried to correct this misrepresentation by saying that Walz only temporarily served at that rank.
Furthermore, Retired Capt. Corey Bjertness, who served as chaplain in Walz’s unit, criticized Walz’s decision to leave the unit before deployment as “cowardly,” particularly for someone in a senior position.
As Walz was contemplating a deployment that could overlap with his congressional campaign, he said he was committed to both his military and political duties during a critical time in 2005.
“As Command Sergeant Major I have a responsibility not only to ready my battalion for Iraq, but also to serve if called on. I am dedicated to serving my country to the best of my ability, whether that is in Washington DC or in Iraq,” Walz stated at the time.
However, Walz eventually left the military while his unit was deployed to Iraq.
In his post, Kolb reflected on the leadership transition, stating Walz had “got out of the way for better leadership.”
Kolb also commended Tom Behrends, Walz’s replacement, as “the right leader at the right time.”
Well I guess I don't need to worry about doxxing Walz's battalion commander, because his battalion commander has done it himself on Facebook.
So everyone understands, Walz's battalion commander was his direct supervisor, and the bond between a Lieutenant Colonel battalion… pic.twitter.com/0Ko9rloWNX
