PROOF: Most Americans Want Immigration Curtailed

( – Nearly half of all American adults want less immigration, and their number is growing, according to a new public opinion poll.

A plurality of Americans – 44% – want fewer immigrants, show the results from a survey by The Associated Press and the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago.

At the same time, only 20% of the respondents in the poll said they wanted more immigration, while 34% thought the current level of immigration should be preserved.

In terms of party affiliation, the survey found that 65% of Republicans, 27% of Democrats, and 39% of independents wanted immigration to be reduced.

Conversely, 11% of Republicans, 27% of Democrats, and 21% of independents declared they wanted more immigrants.

The poll by AP and NORC was conducted February 16-20 among 1,247 US adults with a margin of error of 3.7 percentage points.

A survey by the same pollsters, released on February 13, 2023, showed the share of Americans wishing for less immigration at 40%.

That is compared with only 19% in January 2021 when Democrat Joe Biden took over the White House.

The previous poll found that 71% of Republicans, 19% of Democrats, and 36% of independents wanted fewer immigrants, whether illegal or otherwise.

However, a commentary by Breitbart News points out that those Americans wishing the level of immigration to stay “as it is” were likely misled because the mainstream media have a policy of “hiding the huge migration numbers and the growing pocketbook damage to ordinary Americans.”

It adds the poll results still match “the rising public opposition” to Democrat President Joe Biden’s policy, which is backed by the business sector, and provides for “importing millions of legal, quasi-legal, and illegal migrants for jobs and homes that would otherwise go to better-paid Americans.”

In August 2022, a public opinion survey by the pro-immigration Economic Innovation Group found only 28% of registered US voters considered immigration positive for their local economy, and only 38% deemed it good for the United States.

In July 2022, a poll by YouGov found that Americans who thought that companies “should raise wages and try harder to recruit Americans even if it causes the prices of their products to rise” outnumbered those who preferred cheap immigrant labor by a factor of two-to-one.

Also, in August 2022, a poll commissioned by the leftist National Public Radio, which the American taxpayer funds, found that most Americans – 54% – view the tsunami of illegal immigration via the Southern Border as an “invasion.”

That included 76% of Republicans, 46% of independents, and even 40% of Biden’s own Democrats.
