(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – When Americans talk about increased fear of crime in their communities, one of the biggest motivators of that fear is the worry that their child or grandchild might be injured or killed in a school shooting in their local school district. Those concerns are so great that almost every school in the country participates in “active shooter” drills to train students on what to do in the event of a shooting incident in their school in the way school children were taught in the 1950s and 1960s on what to do in the event of a nuclear attack.
And now, according to a report from Fox News, comes word that school shootings this fall are at a record high. The Center for Homeland Defense & Security has compiled statistics showing that there have been 64 gun incidents on school grounds since the start of the school year. Interestingly, and perhaps significantly, 23 of those incidents began as a dispute that then rose to the level of a gun being employed as the conflict went further out of control.

A prime example of this type of escalation from a dispute – usually a fight – may be what occurred in Texas earlier this week. There, based on videos taken by other students, it appears a fistfight that may have begun from “bullying” erupted into a tragic shooting with four injured. Thankfully, no one was killed.
What do you think? Why do you think the United States is experiencing a record number of shooting incidents on school campuses this fall?
