Sen. Marsha Blackburn Outraged by Southern Border ‘Got-Aways’

( – The number of illegal immigrant gotaways crossing into America through the Southern Border is worse than it appears, Republican U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn has warned.

Blackburn’s warning came after U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) showed a record monthly number of illegals – 251,487 – were caught in December 2022.

According to a recent Fox News report citing a CBP source, there were 278,000 “known gotaways” between October 1, 2022, and January 21, 2023, in 113 days – which is 2,465 gotaways per day.

Some 6 million illegal aliens have entered the United States in the two years since Joe Biden entered the White House. Well over 1 million of those have been gotaways.

In an interview for Newsmax’s “Wake Up America,” the U.S. Senator from Tennessee revealed she was stunned by the number of uncaught illegals.

“Of the got-away numbers, we have found these to be just incredible, when you look at what is happening there. Gotaways are people that the border patrol can see, and they can’t get to them,” Blackburn stated.

“Now, there is also another category of gotaways – the unknown got-aways. And these are the ones that find clothing, or they will find tracks, and they see people coming to pick them up that they never saw these individuals on surveillance, but they know they were there,” the GOP US lawmaker elaborated.

“These are the really bad guys. They’re ones that more of them have a criminal background. They are the drug smugglers, the human traffickers that are trying not to get caught,” she added.

Blackburn revealed the fact that the illegal immigration crisis was causing growing crime and drug problems was generating “movement” on the issue in the nation’s capital.

“The movement that we are seeing is in Congress – you’re beginning to have some bipartisan groups go to the border. This is a very good thing. Our Democratic colleagues need to go, they need to see this firsthand,” the Republican senator said.

“They are hearing from their constituents. Every town’s a border town, every state a border state, because of the drugs, the human trafficking, the sex trafficking, the crime that they’re bringing into communities,” she added.

Jon Anfinsen, the head of the U.S. Border Patrol Union in the Del Rio, Texas, Sector of the Southern Border, who spoke on the same program, slammed President Joe Biden’s recent and only border visit as “completely disingenuous.”

“If they wanted him to actually see what was happening, they wouldn’t have taken him to the port of entry… Unfortunately, the choice to take him to El Paso was also on purpose because they had more control what they could show in that area,” he said.

Anfinsen argued Biden should have gone to areas such as Del Rio, Texas, or Yuma, Arizona.

“It’s actually crazier [there], it’s harder to deal with because there’s so much going on at the border they wouldn’t have been able to sanitize it properly,” he noted.
