Spy: ‘We’ve Got to Be Worried’

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – In an ominous prediction, a former KGB spy said America has “got to be worried” as Russia dispatched three warships and a nuclear submarine to waters near Cuba for what it described as routine military exercises.

This deployment has raised concerns among some observers about the real intent behind this show of naval force.

Former spy Jack Barsky commented on the situation on NewsNation’s “The Hill” and noted that “Vladimir Putin is again up to his own tricks. He likes to scare people.”

Barsky, who once spied for the Soviet Union in the U.S. under the KGB’s direction, lends his expertise on the matter.

“You’ve got to be worried about this kind of stuff. You can’t look at this as just a routine exercise. It has to be seen against the background where Putin is stating that he’s actually fighting the West in Ukraine,” Barsky emphasized.

However, the Pentagon has downplayed any alarm over Russia’s recent naval activities near Cuba, viewing it as standard naval operations without any immediate threat to the United States.

Barsky also highlighted the broader implications of Russia’s actions, stating, “Everything that Putin does is sending messaging, particularly threatening ones.”

Echoing a similar sentiment, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Wesley Clark spoke on the same program, suggesting, “I don’t think it’s anything that will erupt in violence,” Clark explained, “But does [Vladimir Putin] send a message to the United States and the world? Sure.”

Barsky compared the presence of Russian military assets in the Caribbean to the tensions of the Cuban missile crisis and acknowledged the risk of heightened tensions.

“With this kind of tension that we have, there’s always the possibility of an accidental launch,” he added. “I’m worried about that.”

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan downplayed the strategic significance of these maneuvers, describing them as commonplace.

“We have seen this kind of thing before and we expect to see this kind of thing again, and I’m not going to read into it any particular motives,” Sullivan remarked.

He also reassured that there was no evidence of Russia transferring any missiles to Cuba, though the U.S. remains watchful. “We do not expect anything like that to occur.”
