(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Far-left Democrat US Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri has been paying her new husband for security services with campaign money even though he doesn’t have the needed license, a report has revealed.
Last month, Rep. Cori Bush, who is a “defund the police” enthusiast and a member of the progressivist “Squad” among House Democrats, got “quietly married” to Cortney Merritts.
At the same time, Fox News reported that Merritts has already received $60,000 from Bush’s campaign money for providing her with security services even though he allegedly has no private security license.
It noted that the Democrat congresswoman’s new husband was supposed to have a security license for the area of her home city of St. Louis, Missouri, to carry out safety functions there.
Besides paying her new love, Bush’s campaign has also been paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to a St. Louis-based security company and other entities for the leftist politician’s protection.
“A Sunshine Law administrator said there are ‘no responsive records’ relative to the request, and Merritts does not have a current license,” Fox News disclosed.
It received the information after filing a public records request with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
The records search for Rep. Cori Bush’s congressional district, which includes St. Louis and its neighboring St. Louis County, showed no active licenses in Cortney Merritts’s name.
The police administration revealed that the “last security license issued to that individual expired in 2012.”
“With the exception of St. Louis Police Officers, all persons performing a security function in the City of St. Louis must be licensed to do so through the Private Security Section,” says the website of the St. Louis police.
The Fox News report also revealed that Rep. Cori Bush’s security provider and husband couldn’t be found in the database of licensed security professionals in Washington, DC, as per data from the city’s Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.
Records from the Federal Election Commission show Rep. Cori Bush’s campaign paid Merritts $2,500 for “security services” from January to December 2022.
He has received $60,000 in total from Bush’s campaign and was reimbursed $2,359.59 for gas and travel.
The far-left Democrat’s campaign also paid St. Louis-based company PEACE Security $225,281.80 for “security services” and another $50,000 to Nathaniel Davis for “security services.”
Reports that Rep. Cori Bush had married the “security guard” in a private ceremony in her home city emerged last week.
The two have allegedly been romantically involved since before she became a member of the US Congress in 2021.
The far-left legislator has been trying to defend her lavish private security spending against the backdrop of her defunding the police stance.
“The thing about defund the police is we have to tell the entire narrative. So people hear ‘defund the police.’ But you know what they’ll say? Say ‘reallocate,’ say ‘divest,’ say ‘move.’ But it’s still the same thing,” Rep. Cori Bush told CBS News last year.
“We can’t get caught up on the words. People spend more time focusing on the word ‘defund’ than they spend on caring and addressing the problem of police in this country,” she elaborated.
