(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – In a laughable development teaching pop star Taylor Swift a hard lesson, recent polls suggest that her public endorsement of Kamala Harris might have done more harm than good, or at least it has not significantly swayed voters.
According to an ABC News/Ipsos poll released on Sunday, only 6% of participants indicated that Swift’s endorsement made them more inclined to vote for Harris.
On the other hand, 13% reported that it made them less likely to support her, and a substantial 81% stated it had no impact on their decision, Breitbart News reports.
The demographic most likely to react negatively to Swift’s endorsement appears to be former President Donald Trump’s supporters.
This poll emerges in the wake of a presidential debate hosted by ABC News, which faced criticism for alleged bias against Trump.
The moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, were noted for interrupting Trump to fact-check his statements but did not do the same for Harris, despite her making several questionable claims.
Another poll by YouGov echoed these findings, revealing that only 8% of respondents felt more compelled to support Harris because of Swift’s endorsement, whereas 20% felt more inclined to support Trump.
The majority, 66%, felt the endorsement did not influence their preference.
Swift disclosed her endorsement via Instagram shortly after the presidential debate, stating her support for Harris.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,” Swift wrote.
However, she moderated her message by advising her followers to conduct their own research and vote according to their convictions.
This cautious approach may stem from Harris’s unpopularity among young, progressive voters, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Harris has faced protests from anti-Israel progressives at her events and at last month’s Democratic National Convention.
Consequently, many of these voters are now exploring alternative candidates, such as Jill Stein of the Green Party.
