(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – President Joe Biden’s first-ever visit to the US-Mexican border was slammed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott as too late and failing to tackle the giant illegal alien crisis.
Some 6 million illegal immigrants have been allowed to come to the US since Biden took over the White House two years ago.
The Democrat Biden went to El Paso, Texas, on Sunday, in his first-ever proper visit to the actual border, before going to Mexico City for a summit with leaders of Canada and Mexico.
“All he’s going to do down there is rearrange the chairs on the deck of the Titanic,” Texas’s Republican Governor Greg Abbott told Fox News on Sunday morning.
“He’s not going to achieve any solutions that will make the border safer, more secure, and stop illegal immigration,” Abbott added.
The governor revealed the White House did not notify him and his staff about Biden’s visit until Saturday night.
Abbott said a plan the administration announced last week with new rules on illegals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaraguan, and Venezuela would amount to “enticement” rather than enforcement.
“There are things under current law that Biden can and must do,” the Texas governor said.
“One is he shall detain and stop the release of people crossing the border illegally. Second, he should be prosecuting those who cross the border illegally, which he is currently authorized to do. Third, he needs to aggressively reinforce the remain in Mexico as well as Title 42 policies that federal counts have required him to do,” he elaborated.
Abbott insisted the fourth thing Biden must do was complete the construction of a border wall.
“Those are things he could do if his goal was to stop illegal immigration, but that’s not his goal… We have very simple solutions the Biden administration could apply to do something about this if they wanted to, but they don’t care about stopping illegal immigration,” added the governor.
Abbott has been using the National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety to block illegal border crossings.
He noted that the border area visited by Biden had been “sanitized,” so he couldn’t see any illegal immigration chaos.
“He needs to talk to the thousands of Texans who live on the border whose lives have been destroyed by his policies, but he’s not going to talk to anybody like that,” the governor said.
“He’s going to get a candy-coated version of what’s going on and not know the information that he needs to understand so that he can fix this,” he stressed.
Abbott pointed out that his state was increasing its efforts to defend the border, including plans to build more of the border wall by the end of 2023 than was built during the four years of the Trump administration.
He added the Texas authorities had seized more fentanyl at the border than would be necessary to kill every single person in the United States.
President Joe Biden's visit to El Paso Sunday is coming "two years too late and about $20 billion short of what needs to be done," Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Sunday. https://t.co/lmCw2VACDO
