(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Lawlessness stimulated by leftist pro-crime policies is reaching new highs in the Democrat-led city of Oakland, California, where authorities have had to launch an investigation into the theft of a critical emergency response tool, the Jaws of Life, after thugs stole it from firefighters.
The Jaws of Life were snatched from local firefighters last Friday, as reported by the Los Angeles Times, cited by Breitbart News.
This tool, indispensable for rescuing individuals trapped in vehicular wrecks, was taken under mysterious circumstances shortly after its deployment at a site on the 1600 block of West Street.
The theft was discovered soon after the tool’s use, noted a law enforcement spokesperson, although details regarding potential suspects remain undisclosed at this time.
Currently, both the police and fire departments are actively engaged in efforts to recover the stolen equipment, underscoring the severity of the situation given the tool’s importance in life-threatening emergencies.
The Times highlighted the functionality of the Jaws of Life, noting that “Jaws of Life tools can be operated by a single individual and generally weigh around 50 pounds.”
This feature is essential for quick deployment in crisis situations, as evidenced by various video footage displaying the tool’s use in numerous rescues across the country.
This theft is part of a broader crime wave affecting Oakland residents.
In one notable incident reported in May, an elderly man fell victim to theft when his antique Corvette was stolen in broad daylight following a car show.
The victim lamented the lack of repercussions for such acts, stating, “There are no consequences in this city. People can steal and rob.”
Additionally, the city’s infrastructure has been targeted by thieves, leading to significant adjustments in traffic control measures.
After multiple thefts of copper wiring, city officials were compelled to replace traffic lights with stop signs at one intersection, a decision indicative of a deeper municipal struggle against ongoing theft.
“It’s just telling us that the city is giving up on us. The city did try to fix the traffic light, at least a few times. But once they fixed it, normally within the week or so it will go out again,” detailed Tam Le of Le’s Auto Body and Engine Repair shop.
Further compounding the city’s challenges, in July, a local business owner endeavored to recover after his gas station, the 76 Gas Station & Mini Market on Hegenberger Road, was overrun and looted by a mob.
“This is the hardest thing you could ever go through…especially if you’ve been put in sweat and tears day in and day out,” Sam Mardaie said.
