(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – In a crackdown stopping the march of transgenderism, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has enacted legislation, the “Protect All Students Act,” mandating bathroom use in schools based on birth-assigned gender.

This bold action, embraced by the state’s Republican leadership, has sparked strong reactions nationwide.

Ohio’s new law restricts transgender students from using bathrooms that align with their gender identity, spanning all levels from kindergarten through college.

The bill bars transgender students from accessing multi-person bathrooms, locker rooms, and overnight accommodations that do not match their gender as assigned at birth.

This measure became law despite objections from Democrats, teachers’ unions, and civil rights groups.

The law lacks an enforcement mechanism, leaving schools to navigate its implementation.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Ohio has labeled the bill a violation of privacy rights for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Notably, similar laws are emerging across the country, with states like Texas proposing restrictions on gender identity-related funding and protections, AP reports.

The “Protect All Students Act,” was debated over 19 months before being attached to unrelated legislation regarding the College Credit Plus program.

This strategic maneuver secured its passage by the Republican-majority state Senate with a 24-7 party-line vote.

Notably, former President Donald Trump’s campaign has consistently opposed transgender rights, supporting efforts like these.

“Common sense is on a winning streak in America today. No student should be forced to go into the bathroom or locker room with a student of the opposite sex, and Ohio’s kids are better protected now because of Governor DeWine’s decision to sign this bill,” commented Aaron Baer, president of the Center for Christian Virtue.

Ohio’s stance won’t remain isolated for long, as the U.S. Supreme Court plans to hear arguments on a related Tennessee case.

This outcome could potentially redefine policies in other states.

Meanwhile, Ohio previously enacted legislation barring gender-affirming care for minors and limiting transgender participation in sports, though legal challenges continue to impede enforcement.

Governor DeWine’s decision underscores a larger national context of state-level actions addressing transgender rights.

While proponents express relief over tighter security measures, detractors argue that such legislation ignores the realities of transgender individuals’ heightened vulnerability.

“It revolves around safety, security, and, I think, common sense. It protects our children and grandchildren in private spaces where they are most vulnerable,” said Republican Ohio state Sen. Jerry Cirino, cited by The Herald Dispatch.

As the law takes effect in 90 days, it is set to ignite debates in statehouses and courthouses nationwide.
