(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now admits that gun homicides in the United States of America rose to record levels during the first year of the pandemic when lockdowns and restrictions were at their peak. This statistical proof confirms the fears and predictions of the millions of Americans who were concerned that COVID-19 lockdowns might do more harm than good in some aspects.
As U.S. News & World Report recounts in, “U.S. Gun Homicides Jumped to Highest Level in 25 Years During Pandemic“:
“During the first year of the pandemic, the number of Americans felled by gun violence reached a level not seen since 1994, a new government report shows.
“From 2019 to 2020, the rate of murders involving guns rose by nearly 35%, the highest logged in more than 25 years…
“‘We saw the number of firearm homicides increase from 14,392 in 2019 to 19,350 in 2020,” Thomas Simon, associate director for science in CDC’s Division of Violence Prevention, said during the briefing. “That is nearly 5,000 more lives lost to firearm homicides in one year.” [emphasis added]
As the CDC’s report indicates, there was an astronomical increase of 5,000 people murdered by guns during 2020 over 2019. As every American knows, 2020 was the year when the COVID lockdowns and restrictions were at their most stringent.
