If anyone had any doubts about where Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) stands on taxation, she erased those doubts at the Met Gala (an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City), where she wore a dress (watch the video below) emblazoned in red with “Tax the Rich.”
Explaining why she wore the dress (watch the video below), the Congresswoman stated:
“…We really started having a conversation about what it means to be working-class women of color at the Met. And, we said, we can’t just play along, but we need to break the fourth wall and challenge some of the institutions. And, while the Met is known for its spectacle, we should have a conversation about it.”
