(VIDEO) Trump Ally Enters Prison

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Today, Steve Bannon, a close ally of former President Donald Trump, will enter a low-security federal prison.

Bannon will serve a four-month sentence for ignoring a congressional subpoena from the now-defunct Peliosi-created House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, protest at the U.S. Capitol.

This sentence might keep Bannon locked up nearly until Election Day as federal prison inmates do not have internet or social media access, making it tough for Bannon to connect with fans of his War Room podcast.

Recently, Bannon’s last attempt to stay out of prison failed when the Supreme Court rejected his request to delay his sentence during his appeals process. He received a four-month sentence after being convicted in 2022 of two misdemeanor counts of contempt of Congress.

Moreover, Bannon was charged after refusing to hand over documents or testify to a Democratic-led House committee probing the Capitol riot by Trump supporters aiming to block the certification of Biden’s 2020 election win.

The political strategist was a key adviser to Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and served as his chief White House strategist in 2017 before they had a falling out, which they later resolved. He also has been influential in right-wing media.

He initially delayed starting his prison term while appealing his conviction to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The D.C. Circuit upheld his conviction, leading U.S. District Court Judge Carl Nichols to order Bannon to report to prison.

Furthermore, Bannon is not the first former top official from Trump’s White House to be imprisoned for not cooperating with the committee.

For instance, former Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro was imprisoned in March after serving a four-month sentence. The Supreme Court also denied his request to stay free during his appeal.

In 2021, Trump pardoned Bannon on federal charges, accusing him of swindling Trump supporters in a fundraising effort to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, but Bannon pleaded not guilty to state charges related to the border wall fundraising and is awaiting trial.
