VIDEO: Violent Looting Shutting These Stores Down

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – The woke culture promoted by retail giant Target has come back to bite it as the far-left corporation has announced it is shutting down nine of its stores in Democrat-run cities because of rampant crime, theft, and lawlessness.

On Tuesday, Target announced it had decided to close the stores as of October 21, 2023, due to the safety hazards caused by “theft and organized retail crime.”

A bit further down this post, you can watch a video of a Target store being looted on the same day as the announcement.

Eight of the nine stores that the retailer will close next month on the leftist-dominated West Coast: two in Seattle, Washington; three in Portland, Oregon; and three in the San Francisco Bay Area (one in San Francisco, one in Oakland, and one in Pittsburg, California).

The ninth Target store that will be no more is located in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, The Star Tribune reports.

“At Target, we take the decision to close stores very seriously, and only do so after taking meaningful steps to invest in the guest experience and improve business performance. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to close nine Target stores across four states,” the Minneapolis-based company announced.

“In this case, we cannot continue operating these stores because theft and organized retail crime are threatening the safety of our team and guests and contributing to unsustainable business performance,” Target declared.

“We know that our stores serve an important role in their communities, but we can only be successful if the working and shopping environment is safe for all,” it added.

The company stressed it had tried various theft prevention measures, such as adding extra security and locking up merchandise, but those proved ineffective.

The Star Tribune notes that in spring 2023, Target executives predicted that organized retail crime and theft would slash over $500 million from the company’s profits this year, with CEO Brian Cornell announcing a surge in “violent incidents.”

In a corporate call on Target’s second-quarter earnings last month, Cornell revealed the company’s roughly 2,000 stores nationwide saw a 120% spike in theft incidents accompanied by violence or violent threats.

“Our team continues to face an unacceptable amount of retail theft and organized retail crime… Unfortunately, safety incidents associated with theft are moving in the wrong direction,” the CEO said.

Hours after Target announced closing nine of its stores due to crime, a social media video emerged allegedly showing the looting of a Target store in Philadelphia.

In the spring, Target became the target of a consumer boycott for pushing transgender clothing items for children.
