(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Going down in history as one of the worst renditions ever, country music singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress almost got laughed at by the crowd when she sang the National Anthem to start the Major League Baseball (MLB) Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas.
Watch the video further down this post.
The singer drew a lot of attention, but probably not in the way she hoped because her tone was not that great when she started singing.
Yet, in her defense, singing in front of 40,000 fans at Globe Life Field is tough.
Andress emphasized that she did remember all the words, unlike Black Pumas singer Eric Burton, who forgot some before the World Series in 2022.
Still, her version of the anthem left Philadelphia Phillies star Alec Bohm trying hard not to laugh on the field.
Moreover, this brought back memories of Fergie’s national anthem at the 2018 National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Game.
Many players and celebrities at the Staples Center in Los Angeles could not hold back their reactions before she shouted, “Let’s play some basketball!”
Andress has released two albums, the latest being “Good Person” in 2022. The 32-year-old has earned four Grammy nominations, including for Best New Artist and Best Country Song in 2021.
She also has toured on her own, with Stevie Nicks, and with other country stars like Keith Urban, Dan + Shay, and Tim McGraw.
Additionally, her father, Brad Andress, was a major-league strength and conditioning coach for nearly 20 years, working with the Detroit Tigers and Colorado Rockies.
Country singer and Texas native Cody Johnson will sing the national anthem before the All-Star Game on Tuesday. Although Andress has the credentials to back up her singing career, Johnson has a low bar to clear.
