Ozark Trail Camping Stoves Pose Explosion Risk
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall for approximately 201,000 dark green Ozark Trail tabletop 1-burner butane camping stoves sold at Walmart and Walmart.com between March 2023 and October 2025.
The stoves, bearing model number BG2247A1 with an orange “Ozark Trail” logo, can explode or catch fire, creating serious burn hazards. Taiwan-based manufacturer China Window Industry Co. has received 26 reports of explosions or fires, with 16 incidents resulting in injuries, including second-degree burns. Prices ranged from $8 to $45 per unit.

Immediate Action Required for Stove Owners
The CPSC strongly urges consumers to stop using the recalled camping stoves immediately and return them to Walmart for a full refund. The recall number is 26-120, which customers can reference when initiating returns. This precaution is essential given the documented pattern of dangerous failures. Walmart customers should verify their stove’s model number before returning the product to ensure they have the correct recalled item.
Children’s Helmets Fail Critical Safety Standards
A separate CPSC recall affects approximately 24,300 Outdoor Master children’s helmets sold on Amazon.com and Walmart.com from June 2024 through February 2025, priced at $20 to $32 each.
The helmets fail to comply with safety requirements and cannot adequately protect children in crash incidents, risking potentially fatal head injuries. Two models are affected: the OM-TD BIKE (blue with dinosaur print, children’s size small) and the OM-KSKB (deep green with yellow straps, youth size small). No injuries have been reported to date.
Protecting Children Through Helmet Compliance
Parents and guardians should immediately stop using the recalled Outdoor Master helmets and contact the manufacturer directly for a refund. The recall number is 26-122.
Helmets are critical safety equipment for children engaged in cycling, skateboarding, and similar activities. Defective helmets provide false confidence while leaving children vulnerable to serious head trauma. Parents should verify their helmet model and promptly replace recalled units with compliant alternatives.
