These latest strikes, dubbed “Operation Midnight Hammer,” have been labeled unconstitutional by opponents who argue that they undermine Congress’s authority.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez leads the charge, claiming a breach of the Constitution as a basis for Trump’s removal.

AOC’s suggestion to impeach President Trump stems from his decision to strike Iran without Congress’s explicit approval.

Her criticism highlights the sharp divide within the Democrat Party, as many of her colleagues shy away from impeachment discussions despite their discontent with Trump’s actions.

Ocasio-Cortez described Trump’s operation as a “grave violation,” challenging the President’s unilateral military powers.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries warned that Trump’s decision might lead to negative consequences by bypassing Congressional approval.

He stated that Trump “shoulders complete and total responsibility” for any repercussions arising from the strikes.

This sentiment echoes a broader concern among Democrats over unconstitutional executive overreach.

Senate Democrat Whip Dick Durbin expressed fears of a wider war in the Middle East due to Trump’s actions, accusing him of risking international conflict without the legal authority to do so.

Other Democrats, including Chuck Schumer, rebuke Trump, accusing him of recklessly marching the nation into potential war zones with impromptu military moves.

Among Democrats, there remains a split between those advocating for a war powers resolution to limit Trump’s military latitude and those rallying around the idea of impeachment.

Nevertheless, Republicans, aside from few dissidents like Thomas Massie, largely defend Trump’s decisions, with some supporters like Senator John Fetterman commending his strategic stance.

“The Constitution makes clear that the power to authorize war lies with Congress… The American people deserve more than vague rhetoric and unilateral decisions that could set off a wider war,” said Mark Warner, vice chairman of the Senate intelligence committee.

Ocasio-Cortez underscored the potential for a long-term military entanglement, warning that Trump’s actions could ensnare the US for generations.
