President Trump has once again become the target of violent threats, serving as a chilling reminder of the dangers simmering within our borders unchecked.
The arrest draws attention to the persistent issue of illegal immigration and the threats they may pose to our nation’s leaders.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the arrest of 54-year-old Ramon Morales Reyes, a Mexican national.
He was apprehended on May 22, 2025, in Wisconsin for allegedly sending a handwritten note to an ICE officer, graphically professing his intention to shoot President Trump.
The letter, received just a day before the arrest, not only expressed his intent but also emphasized his disdain for President Trump’s policies impacting Mexican nationals.
Reyes’ criminal history is extensive, spanning several felonies, including a hit-and-run charge and criminal damage.
His presence in the United States was equally troubling, as he illegally crossed the border no less than nine times between 1998 and 2005, raising severe concerns about our immigration system’s current efficacy.
“We are tired of this President messing with us Mexicans,” Reyes wrote in his letter, going further to convey his plan to “self deport myself back to Mexico but not before I use my 30 yard 6 to shoot your precious president in his head.”
His letter further threatens to attend a Trump rally with the lethal intent.
“Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars,” said Secretary Kristi Noem.
“This threat comes not even a year after President Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania and less than two weeks after former FBI Director Comey called for the President’s assassination. All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric. I will continue to take all measures necessary to ensure the protection of President Trump,” she elaborated.
Morales-Reyes is currently being held at Dodge County Jail in Juneau, Wisconsin, awaiting deportation proceedings.
His arrest came amidst heightened security measures as DHS increases its focus on preventing attacks against ICE officers.
Prior to this incident, similar threats were made that led to arrests in Texas and North Carolina.
Given America’s current environment, these occurrences should serve as a wake-up call to both citizens and policymakers.
The frequency and brazenness of these threats signify a growing disregard for law and order in our nation, fueled by weak immigration policies that fail to shield our country and its leaders from potential harm.
