A tragic incident in Huntington Beach has left a community shaken as a teenager faces murder charges following a fatal altercation causing a “single wound inflicted by a flare gun.”

As authorities piece together the details, one thing is clear: a 29-year-old man’s life was prematurely cut short on the streets of this Californian community.
On a seemingly ordinary Friday night, chaos erupted near Florida Street and Utica Avenue.
Officers arrived at the scene after a call at approximately 8:40 p.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound inflicted by a flare gun.
Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, leaving many questions surrounding the motive.
According to authorities, the young suspect initially managed to escape the scene, Fox LA reports.
However, he was quickly apprehended by police officers and taken into custody.
The suspect, due to his status as a minor, has not been publicly identified.

“The suspect initially fled the scene but was quickly located by responding officers. He was identified as a male juvenile. The weapon used in the incident was recovered,” said Jessica Cuchilla of the Huntington Beach Police Department, cited by ABC7.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community,” said a police statement.
