(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – The true damage that America is sustaining from Joe Biden’s stupefying illegal alien invasion is likely far more significant than anyone has imagined, including financially, as a new congressional report has found it could rob the nation of close to half a trillion dollars annually.
The report by the House Homeland Security Committee asserting that the migrant crisis could cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars annually is the committee’s fourth evaluation of Biden’s “open border” policies.
“Only a small fraction [of the costs] is ever recouped from the taxes paid by illegal aliens, with the rest falling on the shoulders of American citizens and lawful residents,” the congressional report states.
“Mass illegal immigration, accelerated by [Homeland Security Secretary] Mayorkas’ open-borders policies, now represents a massive cost to the federal government and state governments alike, as well as the pocketbooks of private citizens and businesses,” it adds, as cited by National Review.
The document references studies by the Center for Immigration Studies, suggesting annual costs for the care and housing of illegal immigrants could reach $451 billion.
It also cites the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which estimated the annual net burden at more than $150 billion in 2022.
The report highlights various costs associated with the crisis, including over $5 billion annually in Medicaid expenditures for illegal immigrants, the fentanyl crisis spending, law enforcement costs, and the cost of educating migrant children.
It notes the sheltering costs in cities like NYC, where Mayor Eric Adams projected a crisis cost of $12 billion by 2025, and the impact on ranchers and local businesses near the border.
The report also strongly criticizes the financial support for those violating US laws.
“It is morally unacceptable that American taxpayer dollars should be funneled to those who violate our laws and demand expansive, taxpayer-funded benefits like education, health care, housing, and more,” the document reads, as cited by Fox News.
“Many of these individuals will likely represent a drain on American society for the remainder of their days in the United States, constantly absorbing more benefits from the state than they ever contribute — to say nothing of the fact that they have no lawful basis to remain in the country to begin with,” the report elaborates.
It also accuses Mayorkas of enabling “mass waste and abuse of taxpayer resources” and encouraging illegal border crossings with no end in sight.
